Hey, it's Dr. Melva you're board certified radiation oncologist, serial entrepreneur franchise owner, investor and host the 1% code podcast. And I'm so excited that you were back joining me today for another episode. Today is going to be special. Okay. I was listening to an old episode that I did several years ago.

That someone on social media tagged. I miss her and I looked and I was like, oh, so do I. And it was me several years ago. I had just come back from a softball game. My son who's now seven was dancing in the background. And it was called get back on track. And I want to share that with you this week. And the reason I want to share this episode with you is that I think it was really solid advice and it was a video originally.

I'm going to share the audio with you, obviously, because this is the podcast, but the reason I want to share this with you is that it was a ton of my life that a lot of things were going on. And the point of this is that even in the midst of a busy schedule, as an entrepreneur, In the 1% thinking like the 1% you're going to always have things going on in the background, in the dark and your business and your life and the message that I was giving in that moment at the time in a chaotic environment.

I think, you know, if you listen, cause I listened to it last night, it's a short clip, but I think it's powerful and re listening to it. Now, all these years later, it's still coming from baseball and softball. You know, events, and even after the weekend I had, I just came back. It was great. It was a surprise party for one of my best friends in the world.

I literally over the weekend flew in a 24 hour period, 10 hours to stay. 12 hours came back to, uh, you know, baseball and softball. Reported back to work, you know, it's like I was thinking, well, things haven't really changed still having fun, still getting back on track. And what I got from that is that you will have these cycles in your business in life.

The reason I want to share this with you is that I think there were fundamental principles. Great advice. So as you've listened, I hope that you take the advice and the steps that I help walk you through. No, me so many years ago with advice that still holds true today. And another thing that I want you to take from this is that there will be times in your life when you probably gave yourself better advice than maybe what you can give yourself right now.

There's gold in that. So this is why it's important to address. This is why it's important to document. This is why it's important to network with other people that remember you, maybe in times that you couldn't recognize yourself, or you couldn't see something in yourself that other people were able to see in you because entrepreneurship is about change.

And you know, like my sister told me yesterday, whenever she sees something about entrepreneurship, she thinks about. And I was like, I love that. And another thing that's funny is when I meet people, I was speaking with a friend's mother and after she talked to me, you know, about oncology and I was helping her through something, she realized, she was like, oh, you your Dr. Melva, you know, I I've listened to your podcast.

And I was like, well, thank you. And she's like, wait, you're the same, Dr. Martha, you know, you're, it's a little hustle bunny and you know, you talk about money. And I was like, yeah, that's me. And I kind of paused. And we had a good laugh because. When I see people after remember like, well, wait, where did I meet you?

And what were we talking about? Was it medicine? Was it money? Was it, you know, the flea market? When did I meet you? Like, what was the space? What was the context? Because there so many different sides to a lot of people and to me, so anyway, I want you to listen to this. And again, I can't promise that. I still do everything that's in this episode because I'm usually on it every 90 day thing.

And then I, I changed. I put that out there. If you listen to what I've done, I may not, you know, so use the same products, endorse everything, but the fundamentals they're the same. So I like to share this with you. Get back on track. I love you. Thank you so much for listening. I hope you enjoy this thorough.

We've this was 2019. Love you guys enjoy this episode. Let me help you get back on track. Get back on track. So I came on last night. I was honest. It'd been a little tough. I don't want to make excuses stuck to my goal. So my goal has been, I was doing the ease in a 5k app, hashtag ease in 5k. If you're just getting started in your journey on fitness, you need some help.

So motivation in your ear. That's a great app to actually do. So I would start with that app. So I had this commitment of doing it every other day. And then like, I kind of took a break last week. So anyway, today, which could have been like the worst day ever, I had a migraine, it was a lot going on. I took a breakout and then I just got.

And let me tell you this. If you haven't gotten into self-development and worked on yourself, just like this, you can change your state. Okay. It's all mind over whatever. So I was laying there and I started telling myself like, okay, the migraine is going to go away. I know what I need to do. The stress isn't as important.

And I was like talking to myself and then I just got up. I took a deep breath and I was like, let's do this instead of thinking, okay, we have to leave in 30 minutes. Like the kids, it was so much going on today. Like I give you a list. The kids, two of them had a dentist appointment, the same one that always gets cavities high cavities got to work on that.

Shout out to my dentist and then Leon and I volunteered at the concession stand tonight at softball. That was. Uh, shout out to Sabrina and Donnie, they were the coolest couple of glad they stayed with us. And then we had to go because Kenley had softball, Leon warms up with her. So it was all this stuff that was going on.

And I didn't have that much time to exercise, but instead of thinking about it being like, okay, yeah, I went to Bojangles today. See, it's important to have a balanced life. I didn't get, you know, like a blueberry Bo biscuit, like my normal go-to I just had the chicken or whatever, and I didn't feel well, but whatever.

When you have this list of excuses, of every reason why you don't do it, you don't do it. But when you just snap and you focus on why you're doing it and why you need to be strong, how important it is to you and you stick to your goal, then you just go. So then today I think I'm on like week four day one, even though I'm probably in like week five or six, I'm doing this app.

Cause I think I mentioned this before. I did like the same day, a couple of times, not really sure how that happened, but whatever. So it had a longer interval for running. So not only did I not feel great. I taken a break. I probably didn't have the best neutral. My time was better today. So this is what I tell you that fail forward fast.

Like just screw up. Okay, go ahead and let yourself screw up. Don't worry about being perfect. Don't worry about how your time is going to be, just get out there and do it because you're going to surprise yourself. And even though I got an off a little bit, I did better than I did before and I was running longer segments.

So it's run, you know, dog. Running come on. It's like running jog and then walk. So anyway, so my point is to keep going, get back on track. And if you can learn anything from the story I was sharing with you, it's having the tools. It's knowing that you can change in an instant. Oh, and I'm holding like, oh my God, I love this.

I got my order in it's period. This stuff helps me with my focus and concentration. I also took this before I went out and ran. So that's probably why, but if you don't have something for energy that doesn't have sugar, you, you know that like you just need it. You won't get a drop-off like, what do they call it?

When you have those energy drinks with sugar or you like bounce back. But I've been taking this for like four years and I absolutely love it. Like, I don't know what I wouldn't do without my shot. So thanks so much for joining, but seriously, get back on track, figure out what it is that you need. To get you back in that mindset to keep going, stop making excuses for yourself.

Everything doesn't have to be perfect. Just start. So for example, even if I had not finished, like the, whatever, however many miles, like the three K it wouldn't have mattered because I would have done something. I got myself from a place of like, oh my goodness, I'm exhausted. I have a migraine. So like get out there and move.

And today I know with the migraines from there's a lot of people, if you're keeping up with Eastern north Caroline, There are major changes going in this hashtag stand up for ENC. We need you to call your senators because they're kind of attacking you to North Carolina and as a per physician, that's providing care in that region.

It means a lot to the people of North Carolina. So if you hashtag stand up for ENC and check out what's going on with the state budget, and hopefully we're gonna have some good news, but it was very stressful. So that's all I got.
